ヤーマン！
キューバ行ってジャマイカ行ってメキシコ・カンクンに帰ってきたー！
サルサとかレゲエとか社会主義とかヤーマンとか、書きたいことは山ほどあるんやけど、まずはカンクンに着くまでの日記を・・。

あっ、そういやこないだのメキシコ＆アメリカ辺りでの地震を心配してメールいただきましたが無事です！
地震があったことすらツクバからのメールで知るくらいでした。ありがとう！

前回日記のジャングルの遺跡パレンケを出発し、カリブ海に突き出したユカタン半島を走る。

犬、猫、牛、馬、スカンク、イグアナ、トンビ、ハゲタカ、ジャガーまで！
それに加えて、交通事故で亡くなった人の十字架が立てられていて、これもまた10分にひとつか必ず目に入る。
通り過ぎる時、その人の冥福を祈るのと同時に、自分だけは何としてもそうはなりたくないなと思う。

このユカタン半島、昼間の気温は35℃くらい(今は冬)。
日中、太陽が当たる日向は40℃を軽く越える(今は冬)
ジャングルでまともな町が無いのでシャワーを浴びれずの2週間。
全身が真っ白に塩を吹き、汗やら砂やらで体も服もベタベタ。
おまけに２枚しかない貴重なパンツの１枚をどこかで失くし、１枚しかなかった貴重なタオルもどこかで失くし・・・

ベタベタのまま寝袋に入って寝ることだけは絶対にできないキレイ好き体質。自転車乗りとして致命傷では・・・

この辺はかなりディープなジャングルで農地にも工業地にもならないような土地なので、人々の生活は苦しそう。
二軒に一軒の割合でわらぶき屋根の縄文風民家。

ジャングルを走ること１週間。水・食料が買えるような町は１日１ヶ所。
ベトベトでくさーい体でジャングルを走り抜け、ようやく見えてきたこの道の終わり。
道路標識のむこうに見えるのは２ヶ月ぶりの海！！

エメラルドグリーンのカリブ海！
